This Fn Button

Fn stands for function. It is a button that can be used as a modifier to expand the ability of today's compact keyboards. Although useful, this button can be a real time suck for photoshop painters because it was designed to benefit the capabilities of the computer's operating system more so than the applications and programs used on the computer.

While teaching photoshop painting, I think it should be made clear one has to design their own workspace to best benefit their workflow. 

Pressing Fn every time to get to a hot key is inefficient and taxing on your hands. So 'Use all F1,F2, etc. as standard function keys should be turned on.
